Project Description

Corpus Christi Catholic Church started as a vision by Bishop Kevin Boland in the mid-1990s with the purchase of a 100-acre site in the woods, along what would become Benton Blvd. What foresight! Almost 20-years later, a small, dedicated group of Pooler and Port Wentworth Catholics, with ties to Our Lady of Lourdes, started a new parish, meeting in a rented Episcopal Church. Within three short years, we were engaged to help the parish realize their dream of a new Catholic Church in Pooler.

The site was masterplanned to hold this first, multi-purpose building, a 1,000-seat sanctuary, a school, a gym, a rectory, and athletic fields. This first building is 17,700 square feet, and really must serve all functions. It has a 300-seat worship and fellowship space; a full-service kitchen; vesting and working sacristies; adult classrooms; children’s classrooms; a nursery; offices; and a narthex/meeting room. The hope is to start planning on the sanctuary within 5 years. This is a flexible, modern structure that will allow the parish to grow, and serve the needs of a many families in the ever-expanding City of Pooler.
