Project Description
St. Andrew’s and St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Churches in Darien, GA represent two very distinct and equally iconic historic churches in downtown Darien, GA. St. Andrew’s is a classical high-styled wooden structure with distinctive wooden buttresses, dating from 1879. St. Cyprian’s church is more of a Byzantine or Romanesque style, constructed starting in 1875. St. Cyprian’s has historically served the African American people of Darien and McIntosh County. It is one of the oldest and still-in-use structures constructed of tabby. Elements of both buildings went into the design of this new Parish Hall—located halfway between the two churches.
