Savannah mattress dash raises money for historic foundation

Dozens of people raced through Forsyth Park on homemade mattress racing frames Sunday during Sustainativity’s first Mattress Dash.

Each of the racing frames held a single size mattress and themes ranged from pirate ships to Mario Cart complete with Princess Peach.

“It’s been awesome,” said Tommy Linstroth, Sustainativity chair, ”… We’ve got tons of community support and folks out here to take it all in, so we’re thrilled with the turnout.”

Sustainability is a Savannah-based 501c3 nonprofit and all proceeds from the event will help Sustainativity complete a green retrofit on the Historic Savannah Foundation office so that people can learn how to incorporate sustainable technology into various projects.
